INTERNATIONAL KLEZMER SENSATION!
Translated as "The non-Jews" Di Gojim is an ensemble of six musicians based out of Holland. They combine the artistry of Western classical music and the power of the East European ethnic and Jewish tradition. The musicians come from different musical backgrounds, including jazz, folk, classics and brass. Well known throughout Europe, Di Gojim is one of the leaders in today's Klezmer revival.
Founded in 1988, the group's distinctive brand of Yiddish vocal and instrumental music in a theatrical setting has captivated audiences throughout Europe and in other parts of the world. Di Gojim's performance at the International Klezmer Festival of Sefad, Israel, has brought critical acclaim. The city was besieged by the most outstanding klezmer musicians of Israel. Among them Di Gojim was rated as the best klezmer orchestra of the entire festival thanks to their innovative and astonishing theatrical performance.
In New York City the band played at the Eldridge Street Project of Yale Strom. Di Gojim was the only ensemble from abroad, so it was a huge compliment to play there. Press and public loved them. | | |
